I remember a post a while back about crankcase ventalation and I figured this might interest some of you. My appologies if you are already familiar with this.

All those pictures look to make it a closed system. Couldnt you just as easily run a tube from the vent to a container that has a breather filter on the top? I saw a homemade can made out of a metalic octane boost bottle with a K&N breather filter on top. All the parts couldnt have cost more than 30 bucks and a little time. Wouldnt win any awards for clean installs but it worked.

Wouldn't the breather filter do something similar, unless its absolutely necessary to have the air running back into the engine? Or the fact that it dumps directly into the engine could cause some sort of pollution?

The air flow that Honda designed was setup to have air flowing in this manner. For what reasons, I'm not sure.

They have it running that way for emmisions. But I have seen many hondas/acuras running around with just a breather on their valve cover, with no detrimental effects to performance. Only problem with that and FI is that you will probably get a mess in the engine bay. That is why I think the can is a wise idea.
